from Charlene

Charlene and her boyfriend, Tim

My friend Charlene sent me this email the other day.
Years ago, I was sitting in a room with a group of women. For some odd reason, I thought of the statement,"1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer." Little did I know, that I would be the 1 in 8. I ask that you take one small step as Nancy Brinker did over 20 years ago and support this wonderful day of hope. As the world's leading breast cancer organization, Susan G. Komen for the Cure® is committed to ending breast cancer forever. On October 16, 2010, I will join thousands of others playing a part in the annual Komen Miami/Ft. Lauderdale Race for the Cure®. By making a donation on my behalf, you are supporting local breast cancer screening, treatment, education and outreach along with international research that will lead us to a world without breast cancer.

This is the second year that the team, OUR FIERCE FIGHTER, will try to raise funds, awareness and have a really fun day. WE WOULD BE THRILLED IF YOU JOIN OUR TEAM.

It is likely you know someone who as been diagnosed with breast cancer, perhaps you or your spouse, a relative, coworker, neighbor or friend, someone in your life's circle who has heard the words, "You have breast cancer."

A diagnosis of breast cancer affects more than just the patient. When someone we love is diagnosed, we all are affected. Families work doubly hard to keep homes running smoothly while the patient travels the road of breast cancer treatment. Businesses struggle, not only to support their coworker, but also to fill gaps in productivity.

You see, breast cancer doesn't care so we have to care!

My goal is to raise ($500.00) this year. Please help me reach that goal with your financial support. Online donations are simple, and the site is secure. Please go to my fundraising page and make a tax-deductible donation online by clicking the link below.

If you prefer, mail your donation today to Miami/Ft. Lauderdale Affiliate at 12350 SW 132nd Court, Suite 104, Miami FL 33186 . Please make your check payable to: Susan G. Komen for the Cure and add my name in the memo.

The deadline to have my donations collected is by November 30th, 2010.

Thank you in advance for your support. Please call me if you have any questions about the Komen Race for the Cure®. I can be reached at (gredeza@aol.com).

  1. What a great way to support the Race for the Cure 2010! The Susan G. Komen organization works very hard to help with education, research, and prevention of breast cancer. As you know, breast cancer is still killing and impacting far too many of us and our love ones. After all without the support of people like you, many others could die of breast cancer. It only takes one to make a difference. Just like Susan G. Komen fought breast cancer with her heart, body and soul I fought the same way too. Throughout my diagnosis, hard treatment procedures, and endless difficult days and nights, I also spent my time thinking of ways to make a difference. I want to express my gratitude to Charlene for her dedication and compassion to others, to you for posting my video and for working together to help save many lives and to encourage people to contribute to help find a cure for breast cancer.
