A little over a week ago, several Miami Herald department heads sent out a flurry of memos saying goodbye to departing staffers.
One of those leaving was staff writer Adam Beasley.
But, Random Pixels has learned that Beasley, inexplicably, has rethought his move and has elected to stay put. Go figure.
Monday afternoon, Beasley's supervisor, Jorge Rojas, sent out this memo to the newsroom:
From: Rojas, Jorge - Miami
Sent: Monday, May 23, 2011 3:25 PM
To: MIA Newsroom
Subject: Look Who's Back
We're happy to announce that Adam Beasley, who practically had one foot out the door, has had a change of heart and is staying at The Herald. On the eve of his last day here -- with a front-page byline to boot -- Beasley said he couldn’t bear to leave journalism.
We're delighted that he's staying. As part of the ongoing reorganization, we are still looking to fill the FIU sports beat. For the time being, Adam will continue to report to the Sports department as a general assignment reporter.
Please congratulate Adam (on seeing the light).
Jorge
