The way we were...Art Deco District added to National Register of Historic Places

Thirty-five years ago tomorrow, South Beach, with "the largest concentration of 1920s and 1930s resort architecture in the United States," becomes a historic preservation district.

  1. Back in 1988, when we first met Barbara Capitman, (who worked so hard to preserve the Deco District), she said "Save it, and they will come."

    They did save it, and people came.

  2. Did Barbara own a hotel at that time? They found an original mural on her hotel wall that was restored.
