Well, they're starting to scatter like rats following Tuesday's revelations by CBS4's Jim DeFede that "county transit workers were doing political work on the taxpayer’s dime."
Wednesday under withering questioning by Channel 10's Michael Putney, Mayor Carlos Alvarez managed somehow to simltaneously look like a hooked large-mouth bass and a deer caught in the headlights. Alvarez told Putney he was unaware of the bus drivers' activties. Oh thank goodness for our squeaky clean mayor!
But perhaps the day's funniest line came from County commissioner Natacha Seijas.
In a written statement, Seijas told CBS4: “I cannot imagine a more blatant abuse of taxpayer dollars. Why would the Strong Mayor think it is reasonable for the taxpayers to foot the bill for campaign workers? I am shocked by this news.”
You couldn't make this stuff up if you tried.
